It is a Celtic settlement by origin, which later, under the Romans, started to develops into the town named Arrabona in the Pannon Basin.

Saint István (Stephen) founded 1000 years ago the Episcopate of Győr, symbol of Christianity of West-Hungary.

n spite of the fire in 1556, owing to Italian master builders Győr has become one of the most beautiful renaissance towns of Europe. The buildings can be admired at the present time as well forming the inner town of Győr.

The port on river Danube and the vicinity of Vienna caused further prosperity for Győr and the town became a major centre of trade.

Győr has developed, preserving its two faces, a historical and another modern. The modern industrial city is represented by companies as AUDI Hungaria Kft, and Hydro Aluminum. This industrial activity guarantees employment to the population of this region

The surroundings of Győr offer many possibilities of excursions in the preserved nature of the Danube, the Balaton Lake, just 80km from the hotel. In the city you will find also museums and art galleries.
Each third Sunday of the month there is an antiquity market in the town.
